General Mandarin Course

--Course Objective:

To help adult learners who want to make clear and evident progress in all Chinese abilities including speaking, listening, reading and writing , in a short period of time . With systematic training and interesting contents, students can improve their overall Chinese step-by-step. More importantly, the materials help students to recognize characters in conjunction with speaking Mandarin, which is a crucial point for further learning. Upon completion of this course, students should have command of about 1,600 new words and 1,000 Chinese characters, and the ability to communicate freely in your daily life, read essays and newspapers, as well as clearly articulate their views using complex sentences.

  General Mandarin Course Level 10

 Pre-requisites: Complete Level 9 or approximately 230-280 hours of prior study. Knowledge of more than 1,000 characters

 Learning Outcomes:

 - Express your ideas, opinions, and thoughts on a certain topic

 - Discuss attitudes, opinions and ideas in Chinese

 - Understand written and spoken text better

 - Argue and debate on a topic

 - Use a wider range of vocabulary

 - Know and use more Chinese proverbs and slangs

 - Understand the different style of Chinese language

 - Present on a certain topic

 - Understand Chinese culture better

  General Mandarin Course Level 11

 Pre-requisites: Complete Level 19 or approximately 280-330 hours of prior study. Knowledge of more than 2,000 characters

 Learning Outcomes:

 - Use complex vocabulary and phrases (including idioms) in familiar and unfamiliar situations.

 - Demonstrate consistent control of most grammar conventions and complex sentences.

 - Understand and respond to extended explanations and narratives, detailed instructions, and complex conversations in varied contexts.

 - Listen and comprehend radio news, thereby enhancing your appreciation of Chinese culture and history.

 - Read the top 2,000 most frequently used Chinese characters and understand about 80% of the content (on average) in general Chinese publications.
